As a community leader, you are an important resource for a number of different groups who will want – and need – good information about updates to local flood maps. You can use the following tools to effectively describe the process and its effect on your constituents. Talking points and PowerPoint presentations can be used for presentations to property owners and stakeholder groups at local and regional events, while brochures, fact sheets, FAQs and other outreach materials can be distributed as takeaway items that will help educate members of your community about the mapping process. Finally, a series of media materials – including press advisories, releases and backgrounders – will prove invaluable as you inform local press outlets about the implications of the upcoming map changes.
