Training

At its core, OFMA seeks to be an educational resource for its CFMs and Floodplain Administrators and other floodplain management professionals. OFMA partners with the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other agencies to provide the most up-to-date educational opportunities to our local CFMs and Floodplain Administrators.

The L-273 class, “Managing Floodplain Development Through the NFIP,” is a week-long course that is supported by OFMA, but OWRB contracts with private consultants to provide the training as well as works with FEMA to bring in the best available speakers. Furthermore, OWRB provides training on Floodplain Management 101, 202 and 303 courses hosted throughout the year at various locations throughout the state.

OFMA provides a variety of advanced training workshops throughout the year at various locations throughout the state. All workshop presentations can be found on the OFMA Institute website.

The Association of State Floodplain Managers also has an extensive list of on-line training courses available throughout the year.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency offers self-paced, individualized on-line courses, field-deployed courses throughout the country and courses offered at the Emergency Management Institute.

Please see the links in the drop-down menu for more information. If you do not see a topic that OFMA needs to be addressing, please contact the PDCC or an OFMA Board member so that we may reach out and gather more information to better fulfill our memberships needs.
